Misting System - Orchid Board

Ok all, I am setting up a 29 gal orchidarium for mini's. What do you think for a misting system, Exo Terra Monsoon system or MistKing System? I can't really tell much of a difference between the two except for price. Thanks!!

I can't talk about the Exo terra system, don't know it, but I have the mistking system (basic kit + 2 nozzles) and it is great ! The pump is very quiet, it is a great plus, as my terrarium is in the kitchen, so I don't want loud noise when spraying is on. As long as you secure the tubing so it doesn't vibrate, it is perfectly quiet.
Connectors are excellent, no leak, very fast to install and remove, add parts, etc.
Nozzles produce very fine mist, no clogging yet in 7 months, even if I don't use RO water but simple Brita filtered water (our tap water in Vancouver is great though, very good pH and low TDS).

I've seen an Exo Terra Monsoon working in a pet shop once, it dripped water all the time. Plus, it has a limited reservoir and a 6 nozzles maximum.

I'd go with Mistking system. If you're looking at the starter kit, it has a 10 nozzles maximum, you can choose and change your reservoir according to your need (from what I understood when I did the research for myself) and it was made for plants, not reptiles or amphibians.

Great info guys! This is the feedback I was looking for. So the base model of the mistking will work in a 29 gal?

I would recommend to have 4 nozzles for that size of a terrarium if you want all areas to be sprayed evenly, so you have to add some nozzles to the base kit (cones with only one). You can add the quad L assembly to be set once for all.
FYI they don't carry some of the spare parts on the misting depot website (the one in Texas), but they have all on the main site Mistking.com

Ok thanks again for the tip!

I will be using pure water (probably ro/di treated water bought from the store) in the misting system. Can I use a liquid fertilizer (MSU type) in this?

Also, would you all recommend a 2 bulb T5 HO lighting system or 4 bulb? I will be growing a lot of different genera in this tank.

Sorry, I'm afraid I can't really help with that, I suck in the lighting departement. I just buy these aquarium "glo" T8 bulbs and my plants grows happily away under them, oblivious of my ignorance.

I would not try adding fertilizer in your misting system, you have high risk of clogging the nozzles!
What I do is spray liquid fert. in the tank with a hand sprayer when i want, usually between 2 "mistking" misting.
As for T5, 2 should be enough IMO, unless you want to bloom some Sophronitis in this tank

Well, I was hoping to have an S. cernua in the tank.

I'll probably go with a 2 bulb system for now.
