By the way, I learned something!
These little boxes we put together for our orchids are only called vivariums if we are going to have living creatures in there! Otherwise, it's a terrarium
I didn't know the difference until I checked out the Black Jungle site...they have a lot of information available besides cool stuff to buy

OK, since you started it Terrariums (from terra) may have any sort of plant in them. They are for growing plants. We orchid-growers have coined a term "orchidarium" as a spin-off to mean we grow only orchids. I prefer the colloquial term "tank".

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

And people that have these exotic. . . some might say, alien, flowers growing in our. . .ur, "tanks" are called Exo-Terrarians.

This is what it looks like today...but I'll be stealing Gwen's idea for the backing so it'll change as soon as I get to the store
Still looking for a fan and I've managed to get the temps down to what the Masdies like for day temps...need to drop it a few more degrees
I also have two minis coming from Andy's, they'll be here Thursday:
Masd. schroederiana and Masd rolfeana

Oh BOY! It's just coming along wonderfully!
I think I might have skimped on the hydroton pebbles!
I added a couple of frozen Gatorade bottles to mine. . .your idea. .. and it did help to drop the temps.
Gonna run go see what your masd's will look like!
Masd. schroedenana
Masd. rolfeana
Edited to add: Wonder where I could get some of the BLACK egg crate panels?
I got the white stuff at Home Depot in the lighting section.

To drop the temps a bit, I shaved down the backing that comes with the "tank" and added a few holes to it. I think once I get the backing changed to what you used, the temps will be just where I need them to be

Frozen bottles have another advantage - they raise humidity!
Spray the egg crate material with waterproof paint such as modelers use for model airplanes, etc.

ROFLOL, I guess I should take the caps off the bottles. . .uhg ahem.
Changing the subject. . .if you make a mistake, it's best to fix it and move along as quickly as possile. . .
I was thinking the black egg crate would look nicer & be slightly less obtrusive for the egg crate extension that I want to build to raise up the lighting canopies. I could easily install (sandwich like I did on the shelf) the fans inside this extension piece, to hide em.
Pictures when available.
