Default My refurbished aquarium

I've soon made the change for my aquarium tank to be a vivarium instead. Done some tests and it most probably will be a warm place with high humidity. Currently I have 4 pc fans running in the tank.

Though, I got a question for this forum about air movement and humidity.

1. Is it okej to have a humidity ranging from about 85 % to 75 % or is that to much? I know it depends a bit for what spieces gonna be in there but just generally talking.

2. For the air flow. Would it be recomended to have a fan taking air outside the tank blowing it in, or is it enough to have quite large open slides over the doors. Maybe placing a fan closeby the slide.

I've put in a few plants just for test. Also ordered some tropical moss and other tropical spices to get a good look and feel.

as it is still in a test phase I just covered the opening with pvc foil. Thats will be exchanged with pvc sheets for doors.

For what it's worth, mine runs from a low of 90% to a high of 99% all the time. I don't think really high humidity is a problem as long as you have lots of air movement (constant). I have 1 large DC fan running 24 hours a day blowing so the plants move about and a second that runs through the wall when I decide to run it manually. I get very little mold. I get lots of roots and lots of happy orchids. You are correct, though, it depends on the species you select. Humidity seldom drops below 80% and then only when the through-wall fan is on.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
