The humidity has been good and not too wet.
I know this because I've been in the tank a number of times, moving plants around and such. When I dug up one of the masd. the mix was moist but not wet and it was very fluffy. . .big chunks of bark chips. I am thinking that the shelving unit below is catching any extra water. So the roots are not wet, really only slightly damp. What I am really worried about is that there is not enough air cirulation around the roots. . . like there would be if they were mounted. I just received my cooling fan in the mail today. I've put it in the tank and hopefully that will help too. This will be a real test and I plan to make any changes needed. . .I'll be keeping a close eye on the plants health. :scratchhead: |
Oh good. That way you can let me know. I once mounted a Masdie in the viv, and used too much sphagnum moss around the roots. I rotted it. From that day on, I bare mount all my orchids if I do it in the viv.

Hi Gmdiaz!
Welcome to the OB! Those are great pictures and a very beautiful display! Thanks for shaing!:cheer: :cheer: |
Good day, all!
Thank you! I love the new cooling fan. . .it is really quiet. Quiet, that is, until I screwed it to the bottom of the wood cover. It sort of reverberates. . .ur rather annoyingly. So right now, it's just sitting on the bottom, tucked behind the maidenhead fern. . .which is not looking super great, btw. Not sure how to best mount the thing. . .needs some sort of rubber something. LOL How has anyone mounted their fans? Do tell. |
Mods: can this be repeated somehow to Terrarium area? This is TOO good to lose in Intros section. Just my opinion.

I agree, too much relevant info here. Thread moved to Terrarium with a permanant link in the Introductions
