Orchids in NYC Apt. Thriving

My plants seem happy enough, finally.

Chiloschista usneoides, Platystele umbellata, and Dendrobium unicum are in bloom. I think Dendrobium rigidum and Cirr. Makoyanum will do the same in a bit.

Jason Woodrue helped quite a bit with the woodwork. I'm attempting to cover up one shelf with a layer of mossy moss. Jason, what is the name of the plant you gave me?

HI Myrrh,

Your orchids and environment look fantastic. Is the Hammerhead figure helping out? i know you are trying to grow moss on that platform with the E. nakaharai. i think that the sphag and moss transplants you have there should do it as long as you keep it moist.

now if i can find a way to up the humidity in my case maybe i will have something... I have some ideas. i know you have the clay pebbles in the bottom of your case - they probably work better than river rocks since they leach the water upward and create more evaporative surface area.
I am working on getting my misting system going again. ...

Hi! Can we see some pics of the enclosure? It appears to be made from glass or acrylic, what are the dimensions? lighting? how is humidity controlled?

It's an 18 x 24 x 24 glass exo terra tank that has a door in the front and screen mesh on the top. There is a misting system, the humidity stays around 80%. Jason Woodrue made a wood enclosure for four t5 lights. Well, he made it for three and I figured a way to sneak an additional one in there. I will try to take more pictures soon. I'm really happy with it!
