Grandma M I love s/h the root growth is amazing. So far none of my orchids has suffered the change to s/h. I think they like it as much as I do.

Did you make this "tank" or did you buy it? If you bought it, may I ask where?

May I ask what kind of lights you have? They look very bright given the distance...

Hi Sheridan! I was going to ask how things are going since it has been a few months? I too am curious how far away you have your 'chids away from your lights. I would think you would have the same type as mine since we have the same brand, but I could be wrong!

Sheridan, your tank looks great. How's the new GH doing? Did you get on top of the heating/humidity issues?

OK! I am going to try this again. I started the last reply but hit the wrong button........ Sorry I haven't been replying to post but I have been in the middle of a house remodel. What a mess I moved the Orchidarium into the bedroom and the GH is doing great. Got the heat thing down now I have to deal with sun Its always something. Having to put shade cloth over the chids cause some of the leaves are drying up. Nothing but the Equistris bloomed so far but lots of new growth. I am sure the switch to the GH caused some setback. Becca my lights should be the same as yours. Someone asked if I made this Orchidarium I wish.... Check out Orchidarium.com. My Orchidarium is about 27 inches high so that should give you an idea how far the lights are from the chids. I hope I answered everyones questions. I really appreciate all you comments thanks so much.

How did I miss this before?! Must have been during a busier stretch of homework and all that nasty stuff.

Glad everything is doing so well for you, Sheridan! The S/H seems to make your chids all so happy. I should probably make the switch myself, but I still have so much other potting media that I want to use up first.

Good to hear that you worked out the heating for your GH. That sun sure is getting bright though, good thing you've got that shade cloth. I'm having to move some of the chids out of my south-facing window due to the intensity and warmer temperatures.

What kind of remodeling are you doing?

Hi Evan, its good to be back on OB. I am having one small problem with the s/h is that it dries out really fast in the GH. I also have to adjust the misting system for longer and more frequent periods.
The remodel was a complete make over new interior paint, new wood/tile floors, counter tops, kitchen sink/faucet, new slid in range, new fridge, bath hardware, wood blinds, atrium door to rear deck, brand new front porch/guest house porch. The front porch is the major upgrade. The last pic is the old porch. Here are a few pics. Hope its ok to post these here.
