New Addition!
Default New Addition!

Well I am new here and totally new to the idea of terrium based plant growing. Starting to get to many fish/lizard tanks in the house and randomly ran across this website (particularly this section) and am intrigued by the thought (and feat) of growing a few small orchids in a terrium.

The setup seems pretty easy using a raised shelf over some sort of absorbant substrate. I am already familar with heat/humidity issues but am wondering if someone could point out the main points in a terrium based grow attempt.

As I stated earlier I know pretty much zero about growing these plants but I think it is an interesting task with beutiful results.

Any info on easy starters for this setup idea/lighting tips would be great. After learning the hard way one to many times I dont just want to jump into this and realize I meesed up and have to start over.

Cheers!

Lighting and air circulation would be the 2 other main issues (after temp). PC fans can be very useful for providing circulation. The size of your terr will dictate to some extent the types of lights you use. Banks of 40W shop lights can be used or cfl's
