No you should not mix them, since the requirements for those two are different. I got some Notophthalmus viridescens, but they require a winter rest.

Thumbs up

Irphrog, Love your terrarium it looks very natural.

What did you use for the background is it tree fern slabs? If yes where did you get them? I have an Orchidarium and want to add something to the background cause it looks so sterile/generic......
It needs something to jazz it up maybe a more tropical look.

If you used tree fern slabs did you use silicone to adhere it to the back?

Thanks Sheridan

Hi Sheridan, no, I didn't use tree fern slabs though now that I think about it, I probabely would've been happier with them

I used coconut mats (like what would be used in a hermit crab tank) and yes, I siliconed them to the back glass...when it started to "wrinkle" that when I added the grape vine on top of the background to "disfuse" the look of the coconut....I'm glad you like the tank Thank you

Hi irphrog,

This species of newt just like to get some low temps for a month or two in the winter. THey are found in the north east, and naturally experience some strong winters. I would expose them to some temps that consistently stay around 50 F in some wet soil, leaves and water for about a month or so.

That is beautiful Irphrog! Now I want another viviarium. We had one once when DH was raising poison dart frogs. Think of all the orchids I could make happy in my vivarium....it boggles my mind. Carol
