Default Hex tank new build

So a while ago i found a hex tank on a curb. It was leaking and had a poor job on added silicone to fix the leak. I deconstructed and rebuilt it, and made a solid acrylic lid with a hole for an aquarium fan to blow air into the tank. Painted the stand and added a hanging light fixture which holds a full spectrum t5.

Pics of plants coming

Cork wood and great stuff/ silicone background, full view inside the planted tank, selection of plants from j&l orchids, removed from pots and mounted/planted. I haven't removed the jewel orchid from it's pot yet because I'm waiting to see if it does ok in that back corner with less light

That's looking super cool TTopiary! Have you done terrariums before?

And Good Grief! With that excellent seal job the old owner had going on, wonder why it leaked?

Thanks! No i haven't but this project was 3 years in the making. I had lots of time to gather supplies, knowledge, and inspiration.

Removing all the old silicone was a horrible experience lol. The silicone the previous owner used created a haze around it that was impossible to remove completely, i actually ended up replacing 2 panes for the front and put the worst ones in the back to be covered up by the background.... but it was cheaper than buying a new tank and stand.

Oh yeah, meant to add pics of the tanks home in my living room. It's up against south facing windows so i might have to move it in the summer but i put white vinyl on the back glass and so far its doing a good job of reflecting heat instead of absorbing it. Also a pic of the light fixture i put together.
*I've since painted the stand white

I love its new space. Excellent. Kudos for your staging, planning, skillset. It's not my MO. Admire it when someone does.

Very nice!

My terrariums always end up being much more utilitarian - environmental chambers more than "a piece of nature enclosed".

this is such a true statement for me and a great way to describe this masterpiece!

very well done on the finished project and even more so for the recycling and restoration.
