Phalaenopsis speciosa
Default Phalaenopsis speciosa

First time flowering for this plant. Blooms are scented, not particularly pleasant, a sort of burnt plastic/dirty water smell is the best I can describe it as. They are quite pretty though.

Beautiful Phal! I love this species, though I don't have one myself. I love that little touch of purple on an otherwise pure white flower. Not sure I'd be a big fan of the fragrance though!

The fragrance isn't too powerful, so you need to be up close to smell it. It is a strange scent though.

What a convenient excuse for more shopping, it looks like I'm going to be forced to buy one of these if I want to smell it myself!

Nice flowers! None have any red spots?

My speciosa grows like weeds... 5 or 6 spikes in the last year, this plant is almost always in bloom. Mine has a pleasant fragrance, I'd describe it as a sweet grassy smell, definitely not as good as my bellinas and violaceas, but still more enjoyable then burnt plastic

No red spots. Glad you're smells better than mine. Mine is just a young plant but has just developed a third spike, so they are definitely good bloomers.

Nice growing. Mine gives me a spike every time it matures a leaf.. those plants become specimens quite quickly. I have a few purple speciosa seedlings coming my way from Taiwan in a few weeks, really excited.
