Sedirea japonica
Default Sedirea japonica

After seeing Salixx's post about this plant, I just had to get one. Found one on eBay and it was in spike when I received it. Now flowering, a citrus scent like others have noted, but not as strong as a bellina.

So you're the one who outbid me! What a beauty!

Indeed, it's likely I also bid on that plant, but I often bid on this species when it appears. I have two now, younger plants which haven't yet bloomed but which, after a year, are so, so close to mature enough. I'm quite jealous that yours is!

I have resisted buying any of these...must not look....look at Neos instead. The flowers on this plant are just so gorgeous I may have to give up and try one.

Congratulations on your win, sorry John but there will others I'm sure!

Great. I have two. One rebloomed on me. Now they are not doing much. The flowers do not last long though. Enjoy!

Wasn't me. I'm on a different continent and it was a 'Buy Now' sale. EBay can be a bit disheartening when you get outbid in the last few seconds. Hope you get one soon.

Oh, I'm not truly concerned anyway. Whomever got the ones I recently bid on deserves to have them! As I said, I already have two of the plants. I just bid on them from trusted eBay sellers to see what happens, as I do with a few other species I also don't need. What truly matters is that you got a beauty, and I hope it brings you many years of joy.

I'm surprised to read you saying this. Mine last more than a month, which seems pretty long to me. However, the scent weakens as time goes on, it's definitely stronger when the blooms are fresh. Regardless, they are beautiful!

BEAUTIFUL! It must smell lovely! I am bidding on one right now... the all white one...I better win this time because this is the 3rd time I've lost on the same sedirea. I'm just not cut-out for this bidding thing!

Flowering again - it seems to grow at cooler temperatures than most phalaenopsis other than that it is given the same conditions.
