Default Phalenopsis cornu-cervi var flava

I was fortunate to find this flava form of one of my favorite species (have a red chattalada 'Octopus' posted earlier) from Orchidphile at the CAIOS Show in Cape Cod last weekend (yes we were hit with Blizzard Jonas!). The owner Carri Raven-Riemann is such a sweetheart. She told me this one was one of the best three she kept aside (one was awarded an HCC in 2009). So, of course, I had to get it. Great flat form and an intense yellow color! Thanks Carri!

It's one flower now but in a couple years with several spikes, it will be quite a sight!

Please do say hi to Carri if you ever see her and check out her stunning novelty phals! She will be coming to the Ottawa show in spring 2016.

Cheerios
Leslie

The second flower just opened and is 3 mm larger than the last one. Plus a few more buds in tow! Since they are sequential bloomers, it may be in bloom for several months!

Depending on the angle of light the flower appears more green or golden yellow. Fascinating how the yellow pigments are reflecting the light!

Thanks NPM! The waxy texture gives it that gloss.
