Phalaenopsis amabilis variegata Male
Default Phalaenopsis amabilis variegata

Last Friday I was at the Madrid orchid show. Since I went by train this time, I couldn't buy much, but I couldn't leave this one behind. It is the first time I've seen one of these. I hope I can get her to bloom.

Even if she doesn't bloom, the leaves on themselves are beautiful enough.

Great looking plant. These are not hard to bloom, just treat it like any other phal. These guys like to hold on to their spikes. I love growing mine, interesting one for sure.

Enjoy you're new orchid

I have a similar plant...that is labeled amabilis. When it was in bloom I posted and had many comments that it is not amabilis....but aphrodite...yours looks very similar to mine. Thoughts anyone? I'll attach a picture of mine.

Congrats on your blooms well done.

Here's a site that's good for identifying species: Phalaenopsis species by alphabetical order. I think one thing you need to do is have a really close-up look at the lips. Of course, if you are doubting it's labelled correctly, then you are also going to have to consider that it might be a hybrid of some kind...
