Default Short visit with H.P. and Katherine Norton

Marlene and I scheduled a stop to visit with H.P. and Katherine Norton yesterday on the way home from holiday. Not much was in flower, but we did manage to come home with 3 really nice selections:

1. N0857 - violacea var. alba 'Morning Star' x violacea var. alba 'H.P.'
First flower.

2. N0446 - Phal. violacea 'Blue July 4th' x violacea 'Gaston Bleu'
This is the one that Ramon de los Santos posted as 'Monster'

3. N0442 - Phal. bellina 'Ponkan' AM/AOS x bellina 'Fifi'
This plant in flower was sold. Hopefully mine will look this good.

Some other random photos from the visit.

Biggest hieroglyphica I ever saw.

N0562 - Phal. violacea 'Peek-a-Blue' x violacea 'Blue Chip'

N0390 - Phal. violacea 'Blue July 4th' x violacea 'Amazing Grace'

Phragmipedium kovachii x Phragmipedium besseae var. flava.

Phragmipedium kovachii x Phragmipedium besseae.
This one uses the red flowered form of besseae.

Asconopsis Irene Dobkin 'Elmhurst' HCC/AOS
This is an intergeneric hybrid with the
Seed Parent: Phalaenopsis Doris
Pollen Parent: Ascocentrum miniatum
It was the most lovely shade of peach.

Cheers.
Jim

I want a Monster! LOL

I have a plant I believe is Asconopsis Irene Dobkin or a hybrid of it. It was sold to me as 'Phaleanopsis Autumn's Tale' which isn't a registered grex. If anyone's seen a similar plant being sold with this as a clone name but with a correct grex name too I'd be very interested... It is a gorgeous plant. Mine has glitter all over the flowers as well.

Wow, that blue one (monster) is amazing. All the pictures are wonderful. That must have been a great experience to see the Norton's nursery and have the opportunity to talk with them.

That violacea 'Monster' is a jaw dropper.
