Wow! Those are some amazing phals.. Those not only deserve blue ribbons but culture awards as well. Which orchid society do you belong to? I attend Plantation Orchid Society and the Fort Lauderdale Orchid Society. I would love to have the opportunity to see some of your plants in person.

Thats the One I Bought! i was severely dissapointed as well as it was my first schilleriana! very faint markings!!! good to know it wasnt just mine. The plant is huge!!!!!! so i got another one this week from normans its a hybrid of pink butterfly and another one and it is said to be fragrant the leaves are so beautiful!!!!!!!!!! enough about me!!!

Your plants are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive said it before but if i saw your plants i would scream in amazement!!! you have a gift!!! i would pay to see them!

how far away from orlando do you live my sister lives there and when i come down i wanna go orchid shopping with you!!!!!!!

Thanks very much to all the compliments I do appreciate that and Tucker 85 I do attend the Central Florida orchid society and I don't know how far plantation is from Orlando but you are most welcome to see it . @ cattleya 17 thanks and as I have said I am in Orlando, a lot of my chids are Noids that means a lot of them were bought from the market . 3 years ago we went to St pete beach and we saw this red wagon cart flea market and there's a Vietnamese that were selling those big white and purple phals for 6 dollars a piece then and we bought 12 of them 6 whites and 6 purple what a bargain !!!!

Anyway you are right about the Normans Phal schil var pur ma no 2 hardly any mottling at all .This is what i like about the schill their mottled leaves, anyway ill post some images for all of us to compare .Please nothing against the vendors but we are just basically comparing the silver markings here.

This is my schill has about 7 leaves and some have up to 8 leaves total at one point (Bought from one of our local vendor here leaf span then were about 6-7 inches long )

For a typical schillerianna i think its leaves are too fat its like about almost 5 inches wide while ive seen a lot of them to be long and narrow

The longest leaf is 13.5 inches long.I dont know the maximum length or the longest leaf for the schills .Do you guys know???

Just a comparison with its size against an empty bottled water.

Phal Schil pink butterflly that I bought from Carter and Holmes a year ago .. see the silver marking is very prominent which is the one that I like the most the mottled leaf.

phal schil var pur Ma no 2. Did you see the silver marking very unnoticeable (big plant though) compared to the others less bloom count but bigger and has some smell.I thought all along that schills do have very prominent marking but i was wrong this looks like my ordinary NOIDS chids lol

This is the Phal schil pink butterfly from Normans and if you notice comparing it from Carters this is less of a silver marking considering the fact that both of them are called phal schil pink butterfly plus the award associated with it .According to carters theirs has no smell (from their website)while normans claimed that their plants has some smell (from the website) They said ( im talking about people and reading about peoples post about schills) that the more that you expose them to sunlight the more that you would see their silver marking but have to tell you both of these are on the same area and receive the same amount of light but you could tell the big difference of their markings

BTW cattleya 17 how would you compare the silver markings on the second schill that you bought from normans .you said that the markings were great???

These are gorgeous! Do you have to do anything special to keep the bugs off of them?

thanks for the compliment but no I dont do anything different my Phals usually dont get that much bugs maybe because its inside a screenroom in the patio and not really outside, outside i just use a regular spray from walmart for the insect spray only if i see them like the aphids with whitehair and if i see new roots being eaten then I spray.

What medium are you growing your phals in and what fertilizer are you using?

Excellent cultural techniques.

Just got back from the Philippines and saw some wild collected orchids in the market. I can tell you now that the leaves of your phals are twice as big than the wild ones. It's also nice to see that you are doing great with our species from the Philippines.

I love collecting Philippine species as well but for paphios. Keep up the great work.
