Default Phal. scherilleriana

Hi,
Its' been awhile since I posted anything and with most of our phals. either growing or spiking, this species phal. likes to bloom in the winter. This one is a little late but I love it. Maybe next year there will be two spikes.

Beautiful! Do you find with your hybrid phals that once they set buds they need warmer temps? Mine are near a cool window and they keep blasting, and the only thing I can think of that would cause it is the cooler temps. I know they need them to spike, but I just cant get them to keep more than a few buds. They arent getting blasted with cold, its just cooler than the rest of the house. Any ideas? Do you increase your temps when the buds have started developing?

Afraid I'm not going to be of much help. I also grow this phal. near a cool window and in a cool room. It lives there year around, maybe that's it, it acclimates to the changing temps. with each season......?? Yours isn't getting a cool draft is it? That would make buds blast.

Hi Al - nice schillie! Mine isn't close to blooming nor have I ever gotten more than one, very long, heavily budded spike. Two years ago my spike was so long and heavy it broke off

Keep up the good work!

Brooke
