Eurytides: the Pallens I got was from Paramount. It was in perfect shape when I got it, and grew very well in my conditions. The spider mite outbreak was just one of these unfortunate things. Funny enough: I bought a conringiana from them as well. It's a seedling, so far off from blooming. If it's not on their web site anymore, try contacting Chuck.

Thanks for the advice ezil. I've actually been buying from Paramount since like 2004, and I don't think I ever recall Phal corningiana being offered. It's a pretty rare species it seems. I think I might have located one here in Ontario actually, but the vendor isn't sure and has to check in his greenhouse. If that fails, I'll definitely contact Paramount. I'm not sure if you know, but they're going to shut down fairly soon. Chuck/Bryon are thinking about retirement, and I think Chuck wants to move out to BC.

Also, how is your corningiana doing? I've read they are slow growers, but I really want to get my hands on one because the fragrance is supposed to be quite nice.

Have you ever tried growing Phal floresensis or Phal bastianii (incorrectly labelled at Paramount as Phal mariae)?

Byron has retired, as of last September. Chuck is still running the business, but it's downsized considerably. Our orchid society organized a trip (probably our last one) last September. I don't think they expect to be moving in the next couple of months. As far as I know, Chuck will continue offering orchids for sale.

Oh that was quick - I spoke to them (can't remember which, always get them mixed up) last summer when I got my pallens, and I didn't realize retirement was but a few months away!! Ack.... I think they were the biggest supplier of orchids (esp species) in Canada. I'm sad....

Fastastic looking pallens! I'm jealous! I got mine in october from a member of an orchid society here, but I don't think it's in very good shape. It was a pale almost yellow green when I got it, and I assumed that it was due to being grown in high light. Still looks the same now, not growing either. I may have to get another one, and this one will just be a bonus if it ever does bloom.

Great looking pallens Chryss! This bloom seems to have a real flare about it - Just love it

You can still get a pallens in Canada at Patricks. He's up in BC. You can contact him -- orkid@pacificcoast.net
He also goes by the name of orkid at bigleafs forum, if you do a search on his name you will see many of his phals. Then theres' NO turning back

I picked one up from him in the fall, its getting ready to bloom soon.
I hope its as pretty as the one Chryss has
