I believe warm temps bring the bars, cold temps make the blooms white....or it's the other way around. Lol |

Yeah, with my speciosa v. christiana (formerly tetraspis 'C#1'), it takes a long time for the buds to poke out of the bract.

I should move this thread to the hybrid section since most of the blooms featured are hybrids...
It's not a species....sorry I should have mentioned that. But it has venosa as the seed parent! Good eye!
Give you another hint.... It has a pollen parent named after an native American tribe. |

Oh, I've only heard of a C1 as being the speciosa like form of tetrapsis. Maybe I'm wrong on that one.
Either way, when I've seen some of my buds from my tetrapsis, I swear they take 6 months from first sign to bloom (Ok, it's more like 2 months, but still). So just looking at that larger bloom, it looks like it still got some to go.
Sorry the speciosa stalled. I need to find a really good one of this form to buy, but so far, the pickings are slim... (Where did you grab yours?)

I got mine from big leaf. The plant is beautiful! But it is a species and the spikes are both green and healthy, they just take ages to do anything, though I am sure the first one has stalled. I should probably cut it off but it looks so nice! I haven't the will to do it.
My phal speciosa is a c1 as well...Peter from big leaf had ... And maybe still does have...a lot of nice plants in this line. I can't remember why exactly I got it but I did for a specific reason....obviously not for it's robust spike growing.

Aren't tetraspis C#1 and speciosa C#1 the same thing?  I know there has been huge disagreements about what C#1 really should be named, but I think they are the the same plant. |

No one really knows, but the AOS's SITF identified it as Phal. speciosa v. christiana. I really don't know what to do with it!  |
