I have the same thing with my Phal pulchra. Roots come out where spikes should be, and I alwys mistake the tiny new nubbin as a spike. Still not one spike in the 2+ years that I've had it.

Ohh man! I know what you mean about the pulchra! i have one that is making a billion roots and they come out where the spike should be.

hopefully it makes one for you jenny! the peeking i really am like obsessed when my guys do something new roots leaves especially spikes and flowers! when i notice spikes or flowers my heart skips a couple of beats and then.............I do a little dance LOL

That's too bad about the spike not happening. But any growth is good and it will be that much more special when it does spike! Most days I hover over all my orchids looking for progress of any sort as if there would be such a change from one day to the next and sometimes from one hour to the next
