Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi first bloom!

Howdy!! So excited about this one. I think it is my absolute new fave. Single flower, first blooming.

Also, a separate question about this same plant...I was away on vacation last weekend, and my housesitter (I think) accidentally broke a second spike on this guy. The top with the zig-zaggy mitten is a goner. Does this mean I should get rid of the spike completely? Or is this one I should definitely leave to see if it does something?

Oooh! Nice Yvan! I love this one too! I want the 'Red' clone. It's been on my wishlist for a long time. If you like this one you'd probably like Phal. mannii too. It's a little cutie.

Cornu-cervi is a wonderful little flower. I like the greenish cast of yours. Have you noticed any fragrance from it? It's rarely more than just noticable, but when it's there it's really nice.

I'd leave the broken spike alone. If it yellows and dries out you can cut it off, but cornu-cervi spikes are branchers, and will bloom over and over for years before running out of steam. See if it'll branch off and grow.

Terri... yes! Mannii is definitely on my wish list. I just love the spotted, star-shaped species.

John...I think some of the green is still fading more to yellow, but definitely think it will retain a bit of green-ness. Also—fragrance? YES!! Didn't smell anything at all yesterday, but just now gave it a sniff. It is *incredibly* subtle, but very nice! Something kind of like carnations.

Nice, Yvan! Another good one is P. bastianii. I love mine. Similar to mariae, same cool zebra stripes, but easier to grow from what I understand, and with flatter flowers.
