Default Doritis pulcherrima staking?

Hi everyone,

I recently acquired one of these little beauties about a month ago with a flower spike that was about 1" high. The spike now measures 6.5" and it is growing at a 45 degree angle towards the window that it is near. Is this a species that should be staked or is it just better to let nature take its course? I figure that either method is acceptable, but I am interested as to what some experienced D. pulcherrima growers have tried.

I have one of these "little beauties" blooming now as well. NO STAKE, and the spike is nearly a foot tall with probably 6-8 flowers open and another dozen buds. Great plant!
