Default Phalaenopsis pulcherrima var. alba

I've been growing this little plant for many, many years. I almost lost it sometime when it got back to an inch tall plant. I did not give up with it and it recovered. The flowers may not have special form or something, but have a special appeal for me!

Really nice Mauro! It's a bit different than the pics of albas I've seen, those seem to have really bright yellow spots on sides of the lip that curl up. Yours has very pale yellow, which I think I prefer! And many var albas for sale also seem to be semi peloric.

Beautiful! Thanks for showing us this cutie!

How long did it take you to get from the 1 inch plant to flowering size, Mauro? The keiki of var. coerulea that I've been growing in water culture (growing SLOWLY, I might add. It's getting moved to S/H, or at least some other medium) is about an inch tall, with three 1-2 inch leaves and a fourth one coming in. It started out growing pretty fast, so I think if I move it to S/H or sphag and CHC, or something like that, it will start growing pretty fast again. Just curious how long it took yours to recover from being downsized.

Thanks!

It's the same here, Camille, most of the alba sold are actually peloric alba or having peloric traits. This is an old plant in my collection.

Two years from that point until the new first flowers. I actually never found out why the plant got back to a small seedling size, but from the point it started growing again it took two whole years to flower again. I have it in a plastic pot filled with sphagnum.

Thanks, Muaro. Now I have a time estimate. I've waited that long for an orchid to bloom, so no sweat!

They do have special form. I love it! Thanks for sharing.
