Phalaenopsis kunstleri - doubt about watering Female
Default Phalaenopsis kunstleri - doubt about watering

I have just bought a very small Phal kunstleri (largest leaf 6cm long).

I've been reading about it and I've come across contradictory information about how much water it needs.

This plant should be constantly moist, according to Travaldo's blog

Grow and care Phalaenopsis kunstleri orchid - Kunstler's Phalaenopsis | Travaldo's blog

but in some other sites (orchid sellers'), the usual cycle is refered: humid- (almost)dry - humid.

I have several polychilus and they do very well in humid- (almost)dry - humid. But I don't know if this one is different.

If you have this plant, can you shed some light?

Thank you in advance.

I haven't grown this. I would treat it the same as any other Polychilos. As long as there is plenty of air at the roots they can stay moist.

I have one… I have kept it alive for 2 years or so, but it has yet to bloom. I keep it with my other species phals, so it gets watered when it is almost dry, and misted twice a day. Initially I mounted it, but it seemed to want to be moister, so I put the mount into a pot with bark, and it happily grew down into the humid bark. Seems to grow more slowly than other species… or perhaps I have yet to hit the ideal culture for it.
