Default Phal pulchra throwing keiki's, how to get it to flower?

I've been reading up on Phal. pulchra and like your pulchra's, mine threw a keiki with probably a second keiki on the way.

What's the trick to get them to bloom? I read about a day/night temp difference from 10-12 C. I read about dud plants that refused to bloom for years.
I read about them being warm growers and about them being intermediate growers.

To get a temp difference between day and night and it being possibly an intermediate grower, I might grow it outdoors mid summer.

I have to mention mine might not be blooming size. I bought it blooming size but what I got was a relatively small plant with 1 long root. Treated it with Kelpak and it sent out many more roots.

Anyway, despite it maybe isn't mature enough to flower, I'm still hunting for info on how to flower them.

Phal. pulchra is a low-altitude grower from the Philippines, so hot- to warm grower, and it does tend to throw keikies more than some species.

As far as diurnal temperature variations, I don’t see that as a huge requirement for blooming and don’t know if seasonal changes are required trigger it.

Might you be applying too much nitrogen?

Hi Ray,
sorry, took me a while to be able to respond.

I've been terrible with fertilizing for months but it's hard to look back what dosed exactly. I started dosing 20-20-20 (Peters Professional) with the dose recommended here, several weeks ago. But then the first keiki already developed.

Makes me wonder if in situ they throw keiki's profusely.

Phal pulchra does tend to throw keikis, as do some other Phals in the same group, like mannii.

Phals are light feeders in my limited experience with them. Id do a very light dose every watering.

That said you will probably still get keikis, but hopefully flowers too!
