Two clones of Phal. schilleriana Male
Default Two clones of Phal. schilleriana

Both of them are blooming for the first time.

One in the left has larger flowers with fuller petals and nice overall shape. The one in the right has smaller flowers and the petals are swept-back, making them rather poor looking.

However, the former is odorless while the latter has nice fruity scent.

Sometimes you cannot have everything at once.

they're both very beautiful. plus, the smaller one with the more angular petals has an interesting geometric quality to it.

papayj --- know what you mean! Appeal is a eye-of-beholder thing. A healthy orchid and flower can be defined as good health. But appearance is eye-of-beholder.

I know that certain flowers I find more appealing than others (colour, shape, pattern, physical features) may be differently viewed from the perspective of somebody else. That's just 'appeal' factor only (maybe coming from our human side of things ----- or society driven) though hahaha. We love all orchids!

Gorgeous. Am I seeing correctly that one is mounted and the other potted? Would that explain their differences? TY

I am also curious if they are fragrant and if their fragrance differs!
