Wilsonara Spike Broke! - how to get it to re-spike? Female
Default Wilsonara Spike Broke! - how to get it to re-spike?

My ultimate favorite orchid is my Wilsonara (odontoglossum X cochlioda X oncidium). It was originally unhealthy, but now I have finally nursed it back to great health. It even had a bloom spike that was 4-5 inches long! (I've waited 2.5 years for it to bloom) I was so excited! But... this morning I got up to bad news. My cat chewed off the spike!!!!!!
Do I have to wait until a new bulb grows, develops, and produces a spike? Or is that ANY chance that the current bulb can produce a second spike? Is there anything I can do to initiate that? Perhaps temperature changes, hormones, etc.?? I'll do anything!! Please help!!
