Nothing to be confused about here...

if any of the plants arrive in bloom or spike or bud, it doesn't count and we can't take credit for it.

Anybody who finds themselves in that situation must wait for the plant's next bloom...the one we actually make happen

Well, my plant had a dessicated spike on it when it arrived, but I have two spikes shooting out at the moment (and I am pretty sure there's another on the way...) if our intermediate plant is what I suspect it is, you all should be getting spikes on yours as well in the very near future.
