The Orchid Board is NOT Dead
Right now there are two threads going about problems on the OB. I agree that they are severe, annoying, and possibly inexcusable. I've posted in these threads as well as in other, similar ones. However, I think we've got to regain some perspective. Perhaps I gained some myself over the past weekend, with nothing to do but stare at hospital walls.
We've acknowledged that there are other orchid-related forums, including those on Facebook. Like others, Facebook is not a viable option for me - I hate the place. Despite issues here, there are OB advantages that are pretty big. We have history here - one can search through over a decade of posts. We have good information here in that decade's worth of posts. We have people here who are willing to take a lot of time, and at times energy, to answer another's questions. And, from that, we have good people here.
Is the OB perfect? Far from it. We've listed the faults over and over. However, the upside of what we have here does, in the end, far outweigh the problems. It is my intent to continue to provide the support I can to keep the OB operating as the dynamic and informational site that it now is, despite any perceived issues with functionality. I'm sure I'll still complain and rant, but until someone can show me a forum in which there is better, and more easily obtainable, information, I'm also going to be right here.
I believe that, with a positive approach from members, we all stand to benefit from the continued longevity of the Orchid Board.
