I know this is an older post but figured I’d add anyway. I believe that these are TEASPOONS not TABLESPOONS. If you use TABLESPOONS, you will have 3x the fertilizer you intended.

Good catch JefferyR. I'm thinking that - when providing measurement details to somebody - such as fertiliser dosage, it probably pays to write a few different values, with different units - so that any inconsistencies can be detected.

Eg. write "0.125 teaspoon = 0.0147 tablespoon = 0.616 millilitre (if liquid)".

And also avoid the abbreviated units like tbsp etc, which is correct, but may be sources of confusion - which is the life story of many things us people invented.

Maybe Selmo can help edit their post as well, to put in the correct units - just in case.

I ended up moving the encyclia back to bark, where it is recovering.

I have never used a tablespoon of fertilizer for anything!

I used medium hydroton. I don't know if large (which is really pretty big) would have made a difference. What I found was that the roots were always sopping wet, even at the top of the container, so maybe a bigger or taller container might have worked better, or bigger hydroton.
