My multi-year success with C. nobilior in s/h has emboldened me to tempt fate with another species that "needs" a seasonal dry period:

I grew a seedling of this one for a while until I realized that I wanted to grow smaller Cattleyas that bloomed more often (it was re-homed). It is said that the fragrance is divine and it is a beauty.

If you follow this, you should be fine:

I love orchid roots as this is something I cannot enjoy with the other plants that I grow. I thought it was fun that the roots of C. dowiana absorb water very quickly compared to other Cattleyas. The roots immediately turn green when watering.
