If you do not live near an IKEA store, they do ship bags of their leca. If you need to order it, just go to ikea.com, and search under "Departments" and all of their plant-related items are under the "Decoration" category. I can't remember the name that they use, but if you click the box for "Shippable Items" it narrows the list of items down and the bags of leca are pretty easy to find since there are pictures. I've used the Hydroton from Amazon and the leca from IKEA, and I thought that they were pretty close to equal. The other leca products on Amazon that I've tried (Grow!t) is awful; the pieces are huge, and sharp, and look more like plain old rocks than leca. There's a brand called "Hydro Crunch" that also has good reviews, I'm going to order a bag of that and a few more bags of IKEA's leca so that I can just use the rest of the Grow!t to try to grow some creole tomatoes from some rather large plants from Home Depot for my fiancé's father, so he maybe doesn't have to pay $1+ per tomato at the market.
Good luck! Semi-hydro really is easier once your orchids and you find a "groove" and you don't need to worry about over- and under-watering as much as with sphagnum moss or wood chips or a mixture of those.
