Well, after considering y'alls comments and experiences, and slurking a few days on the www, I decided to move the psychopsis into S/H. I think my culture and care is similar to Ray's fall behind the counter method, so should work.

It was putting out new roots, plus a new growth (I think), so likely a good time. I CAREFULLY removed from pot, picked out what few pieces of bark I could, and left the rest for now since it doesn't like repotting. I've attached a couple of pics after repotting. And will let y'all know later how it goes.

I have one that I moved to Semi-hydro about i months ago. It hasn't re looked yet but it has bid, healthy new growth and healthy new roots.

So about a month and half later, the growth that was just beginning is getting weird looking. I know absolutely nothing about this plant, as earlier stated. Is this a new pbulb? Why does it look so different than the mature ones in its growth pattern? A spike? Already? Thanks in advance.

Or not a good enough picture? Can try again now that sun's not out.

Yes, new growth... but weird looking? Not what I expected new growth to look like, when compared to plant.

If this helps: I have a few oncidiums with spotted/mottled leaves. The new growth is not always spotted. My best guess is that it takes time/light to achieve that. As low as yours is, it might be shaded by the other leaves, or just be too immature? My spikes, btw, came up from the center of the plant.

The plant knows what it is doing. The new growth will develop slowly, it WILL eventually have a psudobulb but not for awhile. These things are in no hurry. But why should they be? Once they do develop a spike, it can be productive for several years. So each stage takes its time.
