Default Semihydro update: the one month report

Almost exactly one month ago I posted about a cattleya that I divided and transferred from standard bark culture to semihydroponics.

During this time, it's done nothing but grow like a weed. At one point daughter plant A started smelling a little like feet, so I used some physan and it cleared right up. Other than that, I've had no problems. I've been watering it about once a week (when the reservoir nears emptiness) with MSU @125 ppm N, using the fill the pot completely method according to Ray's instructions.

So...without further ado, a few pictures.

A full view, immediately prior to repotting

The day of repotting, a closeup of one of the growths

The same growth, one month later

A different view, showing one of the other new growths as well.

that window faces SW. it's 26 stories up, but there's a 50 story building across the street that blocks a lot of the direct stuff during the day. I keep the vertical blinds fully opened like in the first picture, which breaks up the direct sun in the evening.

the chenille plant got moved to the bedroom to make room for a mini catt in a hanging pot. there's pictures of the window as a whole attached.

the kittens knocked over my oncidioda that was in s/h this morning, so I got a look at the roots--they looked great!

it's doing well. hasn't flowered yet, but it bloomed last spring, so I'm not anticipating it until then. one division has 5 new growths since last year, the other has 4.

I gave one of the divisions to my mother-in-law. it's her only orchid, but it's doing fine.
