Default Psychopsis in s/h

What is the best way to move a Psychopsis from regular medium to s/h with out killing it? I know they don't like to be disturbed, but I think it,s time. It's been in this pot 2 yrs now. Any advice would be appreciated. I really don't want to kill it,it's my favorite. It's simple: wait for the emergence of new growth that starts to put out roots. Then go for it.

My Psychopsis Mariposa started as a plant in bark that fell off the bench into a pot of a S/H plant that had succumbed to mealy bugs (I had placed on the greenhouse floor). I didn't even know it was there until it spiked.

What about cutting off old dead roots and cleaning out old medium?

Certainly!

The plant that fell off the bench had rotted roots, so left all that behind when it fell into the unused S/H pot.

Oh - I checked the label. It is Pps Mendenhall 'Hildos', not Mariposa....
