Default TDS for Semi-Hydroponic

Forgive me but i'm trying to track down the quality of our NYC drinking water. Haven't found too much information online. According to the latest report http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/pdf/wsstate13.pdf it lists the Total Dissolved Solids (mg/L) as 49 which equals roughly 49 ppm. Is this in theory more than acceptable for SH? I don't have a TDS meter (yet). What are your thoughts , is it better implementing a counter top RO system to get the ppm even lower? Or are we at a point of diminishing returns? Thank You

There is no preferred TDS for S/H culture; you should consider the plant itself, not the pot or medium.

NYC water is some of the purest around, so you need not bother with further reduction.

You should, however, stick to using a pure-water fertilizer formula like MSU RO, K=Lite, or Jack's Pure Water LX, and use it very sparingly.

Perfect thanks for responding. I did find the information on your website after and was pleasantly surprised to read that about the NYC water.
