Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know where I can buy larger clear containers to use for S/H? I was thinking of getting deli containers & drilling appropriate holes, like the pots I've purchased from First Ray's, but the largest I found are 8.75"Diax 8"H. I need containers about 12"Dia. Any suggestions are greatly apperciated

I go to discount home good stores like TJ Maxx and get glass vases in the size I need. A diamond bit will make quick work of the drainage holes.

More durable, definitely better presentation when in bloom. Can cost more but over time you use less plastic, which is decidedly bad for the environment.

Thanks for your suggestion, Pilot. I'm open to plant-based plastic containers, which are biodegradable. I never really considered glass vases since I worry about them cracking when the roots "take over". I do agree that they'd be better aesthetically.

you could try small plastic garbage pails or those large plastic buckets that they sell at Home Depot. You could even try those plastic storage containers that they sell at Wal-Mart, they're rectangular but they have a ton of different sizes and could work.

Another option is to look for the clear kitchen storage bins. They come in different sizes from small to VERY large. Take a look at at some place like The Container Store. You can see what they have online to get some ideas.

I bought a set of clear acrylic canisters at a garage sale. There are different sizes. I like them because they will last better than deli containers and are much more solid. Look in dollar stores. I use clear plastic crystal vases for some. The look nice.

Glass is pretty, but plastic is easier to put holes in and doesn't break as easily.

Their coupons are handy, though

Vanda you make a good point though I do throw it out there that I've broken loads of plastic pots and never one glass one. But you do have to be careful. Also a diamond tip drill makes quick work of the glass. The bit is not expensive either...maybe they use the diamonds they throw away!

Maybe, but I'm betting they're mostly man-made diamonds
