Default Superthrive in S/H

Does anyone use superthrive in S/H? In other orchids? Does it really make a difference or is it just hype? I tried the search function without much results.

I've been thinking of getting some for about a year now. Is it worth the price?

A lot of people swear by SuperThrive, I personally prefer KLN.

I just started using superthrive this spring, after having grown orchids in natural substrates for many years. WOW!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I have noticed especially that it has prompted much more root growth than I have seen in years past. Also, they seem to have put out larger and more numerous new growths. Highly recommended!!! Get some!!! :-D

Both SuperThrive and K-L-N contain synthetic rooting hormones. ST has one, K-L-N has two, so like Joann, I believe you get more "bang for the buck" from K-L-N.

However, those synthetic hormones are quite chemically unstable, so it is important that you get a fresh bottle that is stored cool and dark, or they degrade to worthlessness fairly quickly.

Over the lest several months I switched from synthetic hormones to natural ones in a seaweed concentrate called Kelpak. I am so impressed with the lateral root growth I'm seeing that I'll probably never go back.

Ray;

Do you like kelpak over K-L-N? Is this the active ingredient in your new "Solo" fertz?

Cheers.

Oh, thanks for the input everyone. Now I suppose I'll have to get some kln or superthrive. Most of my orchids I got as babies two to three years from blooming so anything to help them along. I have a few blooming size phals and catts to tide me over until they produce. Thanks again for the input.

"Yes" and "yes".

Solo is basically a concentrated version of what I feed my plants. I was SO impressed with what I saw, that I thought I'd offer it publicly.

Okay. I currently use your M-S-U for well water at 125ppm and K-L-N. I'm almost out. I was looking at your K-Lite, SOLO, and Kelpak and at a bit of a quandry. K-Lite and SOLO, K-Lite and Kelpak, M-S-U and SOLO, M-S-U and Kelpak...???

What would you recommend?

Cheers.

Solo is a fertilizer and seaweed concentrate in one. Used at 2 tablespoons per gallon, it'll match what I'm feeding my plants - 75 ppm N from MSU fert and 300:1 Kelpak.

K-Lite and the MSU are the fertilizers; K-Lite is the MSU fert with less P & K, and more Ca & Mg.

Kelpak is a seaweed extract.

Solo should be used alone. K-Lite and MSU should be used independently, with Kelpak added, if you want.

Ray, I've had great results with your Kelpak treatments, especially at the lateral root level. Just wondering though on your dosages. You imply that in the Solo, you are using a 1:300 dilution. Is that recommended dilution rate? Just wondering as I've been using much lower than that (about 1:1000).
But, to anyone thinking of trying it... Do it. I haven't gotten any increases in crown root growth, but some crazy lateral roots activations
