I just published another "piece of the puzzle" on my website, to answer some of the emails I get about apparent early buildup of "salts" on clay-based inert media.

I have a question...where can I get calcium nitrate?
Epsom salts are available at most places.

It is usually available at Agway, Southern States, and the like in large bags. I have it available on my list, as well.
