Just ordered 50 liters of hydrotron last week and it has arrived allready ....it was not cheap with shipping but not realy that bad cost me $54 total.Now I am out gathering up Folgers coffee containers from all my friends to use as s/h pots ...lol they are great for s/h

LOL they are plastic now days and come in several sizes so I have small ones and big ones....And I have discovered in the red ones I get no algae at all....use the cordless drill and make a couple holes at the right height and instant s/h pots....I have a Mary ellen carter that was a tiny thing last fall and a goldenzell in them and think they are great and although I may have overpotted at first they have filled these containers up fast

Me too, I'd like to see your coffee can pots!
While in the US I've been collecting clear plastic deli containers to use for s/h that I will bring back to europe with me. It's hard to find suitable containers for s/h over there.

ok , no problem its just a matter of making a couple of holes in a coffee container of the size you want to use.
I have no algae growing as of yet in them and it has been one year this month.And they have handy built in handles too.

Deli containers you can buy them at the 99 c store/. 5 for a dollar or something like that. you could also use a reg plastic pot fill it with LECA and stick it into a slightly larger or same size pot with no holes.
WOuld make it easier to rinse and get rid of the old water. Just pull up the pot. YOu could also use this sysem my putting multiple pots on a tray that acts like a reservoir

yep you can buy them but if I get them for nothing and they work why buy anything.I do use regular pots sat inside a slightly larger container also but the folgers containers so far also prevent any algae so folgers it is ....good to the last drop and then some.

I was suggesting to Camille. She could get a lot of containers at the dollar store and cook at home.
I had bought a dollar soldering iron to poke holes .

I am trying some plats in SH by putting them in net pots [real cheap] sitting in an Ikea rectangular food container 2 inches tall . I can put 6 small plants in a small container. What is growing great in SH for me is a small variegated Ficus benjamina.

I think the system with separate containers for LECA and water reservoir is easier to clean and keep clean...
