Default s/h and humidity trays

Hi everyone, just a quick question. I just wanted to make sure that once I start using the s/h method that I still need to use humidity trays? I would assume so, but haven't read anything else saying whether or not too continue using them. I wasn't sure if the water wicking up through the medium would provide enough humidity for the plant or not.

if your house is fairly dry i would say yes, but understand that a humidity tray does not really do much in the form of raising humidity. it does very little right around the plants and that is all. i use mine mainly for aloowing the water to drain into it when watering the plants, i use sh as well. a humidifier will go much farther in raising your humidity than a tray will. here is a link to mine http://www.orchidboard.com/community...icture-187.jpg

I would love to have a humidfier, but have two issues from stopping me from having one for now....the first is space and the second is my fiance....he tends to get a little clausterphobic (spelling?) when our house is so small and I have so many plants. He is happy I am into orchids, but he is not into them himself. So really the main issue is just a matter of space!
