Has anyone tried HygroStone yet? It's supposed to be more like the old PrimeAgra.

I've been flirting with getting a sample to try out.

I have seen it on the internet and have played with the idea of trying it as well. Maybe we can both get some and compare results even though our growing conditions are different.

How much do you think you'll get? I noticed shipping costs more than the product as long as it's on sale.

I'm not really sure how much to get....I would like to get just enough to try for one or two plants....but I'm not sure what orchids I want to use as the experiment...lol.

I saw Grow-in-Hygro has it on sale at 1/3 off in 5, 10, and 20 litre bags for $3, $6, and $12.

The 5 sounds good to me too. Now I just need to find my culprit for torture. Currently I don't have any volunteers...lol.

Hey guys, I have 14 plants in it right now. phals, catts, oncidiums, beallara and hybrids all in hygrostone. This stuff works awesome. Its a lil dirty when you get it, but a quick rinse cleans it right up.
Not to sound like a Hygrostone marketer or anything but,within a week of putting my plants in I had all my Phals growing roots like crazy. 3 are now in bloom as well. My beallara marfitch and my summit frenchtown took a lil longer to get used to the culture, but they too have a large number of new roots and shoots.
I have not tried any other kind of semi hydro materials, but I will tell ya that I am a huge fan.
I just ordered another 20 bag for 12 bucks. and since shipping was more, I got myself a couple of swamp sticks and a bottle of KLN as well.
Try it out. I think you'll like it.

The source for the stone has closed. Anyone have another source?

Not sure. Ill look into it, as I will be needing more as well. I have also had great success with HygroStone putting dendrobium stalks that I thought were dead into it. I now have 4 dendrobiums doing very well!

Thanks. Many hours of reading, and the one I pick is gone. Story of my life.

If we can find out who actually manufactures it we could probably find a source. The stuff I read said it was made in the US.
