Hi! I grow in SH and I'm a huge fan of it. I grow just about everything in SH because I'm a bad waterer

I found this info below about your orchid. Based on this small bit of information, I think your plant would like SH because it will allow it to be more evenly moist...however, if you water and have good air circulation, bark mix would probably work well also. It just depends what you want to do. If you want it to flower sooner, leave it as it is and do not disturb it, because it will have to grow new roots to acclimate to the SH media and this will set it back several months to a year.

Orchid of the Week Library: Anguloa clowesii

Anguloa clowesii is native to Colombia and Venezuela. It grows in the mountains with very moist conditions at the roots. There is a dry season, and this coincides with the dropping of their deciduous leaves. The flowers emerge at the base of the newest growths in late winter to early summer and are large and are the reason this plant is called the tulip orchid.
This plant requires clean water, utilizing rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis water. It likes copious water, especially during the growing season. It never wants to dry out. Allow the plant to approach dryness, but never allow it to go bone dry.

wow, Becky, great find! thanks for the link!

so far, i am in love with S/H too - it seems to be taking out the worst of the guesswork of watering (i think i am a bad waterer too!). my Neo. falcata is loving S/H.

i dont mind a little setback while growing new roots as long as it is ultimately in the plant's favor. from the orchid web info, i will wait until early spring and repot!

Great info Becky! I would also like to hear from Ray on this. I have a small Anguloa seedling and I am just kind of kind of trying to do what I can for it based on what I have read. It was a freebie from my orchid society so if I lose it there is no huge loss. I have mine potted in a fine mix of chc and so far it seems happy.

Yippee! Keep me posted on the progress! If yours works well after a year and I haven't killed mine by then I may give it a try!
