Hey there!
Wow, it's looking really good!
I read somewhere (in a forum, perhaps this one) about rooting cuttings/etc. on live sphagnum. Not sure if you've heard about that approach.

Thanks!

I have seen pictures of people using live sphagnum, but I had just learned about water culture and was intrigued. Besides, I didn't have sphagnum readily available like I have spare glasses and water.

I've heard quite a few people swear by live sphagnum, so I think I'll try that too one of these days.

I'm currently trying to grow a few backbulbs and small divisions with various methods, just to experiment. They were all free!

Lucky you!!!

I have a friend who's an orchid nut like the rest of us, and I swear, every time I go to his house I leave with some kind of new orchid division in my hand. I think most of my collection, and pretty much all of my cloud forest orchids, are thanks to him.

Yay for fantastic giving people!

Hehe, yeah no kidding! I had to search high and low for a handful of backbulbs and small divisions. If I had a friend with a large collection, there'd be no stopping me! (well, until my friend realized they had no more orchids and got a restraining order against me)

I've got some really good friends, but I'm using them to get rid of some of my non-orchid plants to make room for orchids!

Hey, they like what I give 'em! If I had enough orchids to share I would. Give me a few years and I'll be putting divisions of my own plants up for trade on OB!

Well, there's nothing wrong with that. Unless you're forcing the plants on them.
"Here, take my philodendron"
"But..." -- you shove it in their hands and walk away.

haha
