Just an update... a quick photo showing the developing spikes on this plant - on one side. I've counted over 20 spikes all together. It'll be another few weeks before it blooms, though there are two spikes currently blooming.

I can second the "water hog" thing. I've got four -- glumaceum, uncatum, magnum, and wenzelii -- and ended up potting them in plastic baskets in straight sphagnum moss to help keep their feet a bit "wetter." I was having a hard time keeping up with the watering in bark, and even in the moss their drinking capacity is pretty surprising. So far, so good, though: new growths all over the place. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I put a tennelum in a S/H pot. It does use up water more than other genera. The pot is smaller than others but it is a small plant and I think the plant to pot size is appropriate.
Have always had a lot of vegetative growth but nothing like spike or flowers.

I think what I see there is lot of healthy new growth.
If you see little nubbins on the bottom it would be a good time to transplant.
