Semi hydro....sort of

So I went to the dollar store a while back and found a bunch of different sized pot dishes and bought about $8 worth

I had them around a few of my bigger plants and I was keeping a small res in the dish

I realized that since I use lava rock, perlite and charcoal, I have mostly wicking, inorganic material, this was a less efficient version of rays tech but with a lot more air and no need to flush.

I have no idea the applicability of this across species but it was sort of a “food for thought” idea.

I have it in plastic net pots and big orchid terra-cotta pots

It is so dry here, I am having trouble keeping my S/H hydrated in a net type pot. I have misplaced my soldering iron, and have been using my hot glue gun, without the glue, but it is not very good in making holes in my betty crocker measuring cups, pt and qt sizes. I ordered and have 10 lbs of off brand LECA, and have plans to pot some new orchids tomorrow
