Ok, so it's watering day and I forgot to leave out a jug of tap water to let the chlorine dissipate and went online looking for rapid ways to do this. I stumbled upon using Vitamin C to remove chloramine from tap water. It is apparently very effective.

I have powdered 100% L. ascorbic acid from The Ordinary (a skincare company) and, well, it got me thinking...

Could using Vitamin C be beneficial for orchids? How much would one use in 8 litres of water to remove chloramine/ chlorine without causing PH problems for plants? Does Vitamin C help orchids in any way? I've read about using lemon juice when watering.

Experienced growers...what are your thoughts?

An interesting concept, but I see two caveats:

1) it takes about a gram of ascorbic acid to decompose a milligram of chloramine in 100 gallons of water, so it's not all that efficient.

2) yes, vitamin C is critical to plant growth, but everything I've read talks about the plants' production via an enzyme, and there is little to no information about adding it via an external route.
