Hi Sarah,
You can't 'root' the flower spike.
You can grow another plant from a 'keiki'- baby plant that is put out by the mother plant.

They sure are Sarah!

Right now, my phal on s/h is sphag-n-bagged, I am at a “wait and see” state. the two bottom leaves have turned yellow, they are pretty much goners. I know is directly related to the phal not having viable roots to take up moisture, it still has 4 other healthy looking leaves.

The wait is killing me

Default UPDATE!!!!

She's made a comeback!!! my phal is alive it was in a bag for nearly a month and is finally growing new healthy roots, sure the leaves are dropping, but... NEW ROOTS!!!! i am soooooooooo happy, I will keep it bagged for a little longer and potted in s/h

GUYS!!!!! words cannot express my gratitude for your kind words and savvy advise!!!!

you guys are the best! thank you!

PS On a less than good news, my other phal is strugglin, i think I overpotted trying to heal the overwatering issue, since it was in bloom it sort of lost a loot of roots, but I've cut the flower pike off and bagged it as well, I hope it recoveres like its roomy did

Fingers crossed!

I know exactly how you feel, cause I've been there myself with a Phal in s/h. You should have seen me doing the happy dance around the kitchen when I saw the first new root.
