That's pretty awesome. I don't remember ever having seen a white gaskelliana before. Congratulations on this. It's most definitely worth growing on to specimen size.

The flowers on all three spikes are fully open now. Since the colors were getting washed out in sunlight, I took a picture when the weather became overcast to give a better idea of how dark the...

Interesting story behind the name of this one. I might look for one of these. I think that I like the pink variety much better than the white one--and glad that you confirmed it's fragrant. Thank...

The first spike of flowers is in full bloom. They are quite a bit larger than a couple of my other bicolors. Fantastic scent.

Yeah, it actually does resemble one of those polyploid amethystoglossa plants of Harry's, doesn't it? It's actually much larger than any of the other bicolors in my collection, with a leafspan of...

Cattleya bicolor big boy

This is one of the most robustly growing cattleyas I've ever owned. The pseudobulbs are between three and four feet in length (measured from the base of the pseudobulb, not the pot), nearly an inch...

Very nice. I especially like the compact stature of the plant. Did the flowers inherit any of walkeriana's wonderful fragrance? Congratulations. They're quite attractive.

Putting them in baskets won't hurt. The coryanthes, in my opinion, looks to be blooming size (most coryanthes won't get anywhere near the size of an adult stanhopea, so I wouldn't compare the two...

Cattleya mossiae var coerulea

Cattleya mossiae variety coerulea. Pretty good shape for a coerulea. And like every other mossiae I've ever owned, this plant is very vigorous, breaks multiple leads (this plant has seven) and blooms...

Interesting that your plant has been able (so far) to tolerate the cooler winter temperatures that you described. Maybe it is a little more adaptable than the literature claims. Still, I will...

Cattleya mossiae season begins

This is a first-bloom seedling (although, honestly, it's a little too much of a beast to really qualify as a seedling), and I'm pretty pleased with the size and shape. The lip is especially nice.
