If the lizards are iguanas, eating them would be good payback. Along with frog legs and actual chickens, iguana is the only animal I've ever tasted that really does taste like chicken.

You'll definitely want to soak them to eliminate any salt that might have leached in. Most orchids (and plants in general) are very intolerant of salt water.
