It was safe for the plants, but yeah, safe around my dogs was my first priority. I love my orchids, but if it weren't safe to have them around my dogs, I'd donate my collection to charity.

I don't think any of them are "safe." I spoke with my vet and chose one that was deemed safe by her. I didn't like doing it, but I didn't want to deal with an infestation at all. I never use them...

I made this same mistake myself, found a mealybug instead of rotten roots, but I do wish I had inspected the plant more closely now.
